Dan & Jeff, unloading the Dan Van II. Since we are about to portage, it is of course starting to rain.
Chad & Randy getting ready to portage. Note Chad's cool new Peruvian hat.
Ron on the portage trail. Note the fresh cut tree. A minute before this, it was lying across the trail, a seemingly insurmountable obstacle until Dan summarily surmounted it with his mighty chainsaw.
Jeff admiring more of Dan's trail-clearing.
Yeah, just get the hell out of the way.
Since the traveling weather sucked, we declined another portage and camped at the Sand Beach. First night's dinner always features plenty of fresh produce thanks to Jeff. Yummy, heavy fresh produce. But we ain't backpacking.
Oh my god, those pants DO make look fat!
The morning view to the west, across the Brightsand River, and the fleet.
The habitation modules.
Good weather and good fishing: a difinitely above average Monday morning.
Mmmm, sausage & eggs & walleyes. And perhaps a tiny bit of grease.
Now we're ready for some more not-so-good weather.
A constant dilemma: good fishing weather is also excellent napping weather.
Camp established. Note the cool table by Jeff & Dan & his mighty chainsaw.
Another nice dinner.
Ron the 'gator hunter.
The view's pretty decent in the evening, too.
Ho hum, another gorgeous morning.
Dan washing dishes and showing off his legs.
Dan sharpening the chainsaw and showing off his legs.
Either Babe Winkelman or Randy.
Either Paul Bunyan or Dan.
"That'll probably get us through dinner."
Mmmmm, beer. Mmmmm, walleyes.
I just took this one because I forgot to bring a mirror. Sorry if I scared anybody.
The Alien Bassoon.
Chad fishing solo, because I am actually too lazy to fish.
Jeff hard at work at the canoe/fish cleaning table.
Friday morning, packing for home.
Headin' home. We'll go to the Boundary Waters some year and pack light and paddle the canoes again. Maybe.
Chad at the bow of the garbage scow. And another Canada week has flown by.
